Eight to twelve weeks post-surgery, you will probably be ready to engage in a formal exercise programme again.

Your programme will be sympathetically constructed to take into account the treatment that you underwent. After any prostatectomy, there will be some pelvic floor weakness and probably some damage to the sphincter muscles. Leaks as you regain control and strength in these muscles is very common, so we won't be using any Squat type exercises until you are comfortable to do so.

The aim is to build your strength back up in a very controlled manner, avoiding working to complete fatigue, and getting your body used to dealing with resistance training again.
Your programme will also re-introduce core strengthening, slowly building strength back up , and avoiding putting too much stress through your intra-abdominal muscles.

As with any Cancer rehabilitation programme, the approach of this programme is “low and slow”.
